As an (now retired) art teacher and grandmother, for years I struggled with the issue of unhealthy paints for kids, and for myself as an artist. Several years ago I chanced upon Natural Earth Paint when I was searching for alternatives. The paints are rich and colorful and I have no worry about toxins to students/grandkids, myself, or to the earth! That's how things should be! Thank you to the brave women who had the vision of this business! It would be helpful if the children's paints came in resealable packets and not plastic (I know there is a paper bag for bulk order) and I will say the color red isn't great, but, regardless, I'm a devoted customer and will continue to buy paints from Natural Earth Paint and I recommend it to my artist friends and other teachers and grandmothers out there! We need to be the change we seek...it's our choices now that are very critical to live in balance with this beautiful planet. Mahalo Nui Loa !! I highly recommend all their products!!!
I can’t believe these are non toxic! There is no other paint like this out there.. anywhere! I love using fluid acrylics and golden is my go to, but now I love folding these colors into the mix. You cannot beat the price for all these bottles of paints. These are very much mineral based colors, so you don’t get streaking - and the vibrancy for everything is terrific. The scarlet red is incredible, French turquoise and ultramarines beautiful and the mica paints are so cool! The earthy colors like yellow ochre and Venetian red are amazing! All paints dry very matte (except the mica sparkles), kind of like watercolor. They mix perfectly with my golden fluid acrylics. If I want to add extra shine, I add an isolation coat or gloss medium on top and voila you’re looking at some beautiful refraction! The black is very dark but not as black as carbon black, and the silver mica is more of a gun metal silver, but all these add an interesting variety to my paints!
I made an online purchase. My order was assigned a clear tracking method and arrived quickly. The item was packed securely in a box sealed with paper tape. I recommend this business to everyone needing something in their product lineup.
I haven't used the watercolor making kit yet. I've bought it with the goal of visiting our granddaughter this spring, 3,300 miles away in Massachusetts. She is a 5 year-old artist. I've bought one child-sized and one grandfather-sized muller so we can grind together. I'm positive she will see the magic in creating her own paints. And this will be the sort of memory that might take me into her future, even when I'm Gone. All this wouldn't be possible without the assurance of child safe pigments. To be continued...
I paint professionally and I can’t get enough of these pigments! I used mine to make watercolors with gum Arabic and honey. The colors are intense and gorgeous and I feel so connected to history when I mix these paints. I made a palette with an upcycled vintage tin and added shells to hold the paint. I am smitten! Thank you!
