Step 1: Boil Eggs & Gather Leaves
Hard boil your eggs and let them cool . When collecting plants, consider small, delicate flowers, leaves and edible herbs (cilantro and rosemary are great) from your garden or your local supermarket.
Step 2: Prepare Your Eggs
Lay your flowers or herbs over your egg and wrap the egg in the hosiery. Make sure your plants are laying as flat as possible, which will stop the dye from coloring that part of the egg shell. Tie the hosiery tight with a piece of twine, and repeat with as many eggs as you'd like.
Step 3: Prepare Your Natural Egg Dye
Pour one color of Natural Egg Dye into 1/2 cup of hot water and stir. Once all of the dye is mixed into the water, you’re ready to dye the eggs!
Step 4: Dye Your Eggs
Carefully set your egg in the dye and wait 5-15 minutes before removing your egg. You can check the egg periodically to see if it's been dyed to your liking; the longer the egg sits in the dye, the darker its color will become. When your egg is done, unwrap the hosiery to reveal the beautiful plant print.
